A New Partnership is Brewing…

When Warren Huelsnitz accepted a job with us at Legacy in the fall of 2020, our future was still uncertain. We were still navigating troubled times (thanks to the Covid) but one thing was certain, we needed help in the brewery. Excited to continue his path in brewing, Warren accepted the part-time position at Legacy with a full disclaimer that he dreamed of one day owning a brewery of his own. Now, If you know Matt and I, you’ll know well that we are pretty much an open book, so we welcomed him and offered to help aid his dream in any way we could (despite how many times we tried to tell him not to do it), and from there we got to work bringing Legacy back to life.

Matt & Warren awarded Silver in the 2022 Best Florida Beer competition for their Vienna Lager and Gold for Wee Shankly, our Scottish Ale / Wee Heavy

Over the course of the last year and a half, discussions and advice between us and Warren’s dream started to change to the possibility of what Legacy was (and would continue to) become. It became more clear that the combining efforts in this remarkable business could benefit benefit both parties. And with that, came the makings of a new partnership deal for Legacy.

We are excited to announce today that Warren and his wife Michelle are joining the Legacy shareholder family. Though Liz will still be handling the day-to-day operations of the taproom, marketing, etc., Warren and Matt will be working together in the brewery to continue to improve our beer quality and expanding our offerings.

We are excited to welcome Warren and Michelle (officially) to the Legacy family and are looking forward to the amazing things we will accomplish this year.

And as for what’s next, well let’s just say that we’ve got something up our sleeve, but we’re not quite ready to share that yet. We’ll have to leave that announcement for another day.

Matt and Warren got to work honing in on the subtle nuances that separate good craft beer from great craft beer - utilizing industry-wide standards of production and incorporating new and innovative best practices. With each batch our product continued to become more refined. The wind that was once knocked out of our sales in 2020 was back.

And then the most remarkable thing happened.

On September 6, 2021, we learned that Matt’s recipe for our flagship brown ale, Downtown Eric’s Brown had won a Bronze medal in the US Beer Open, our first beer competition - proof that the positive changes being made were paying off. Fast forward again to March 6, 2022 and once again, Matt & Warren were awarded not one, but two medals in the Best Florida Beer competition.
